LES' BIO

My childhood was spent on a farm in south-central Nebraska. My summers were filled with fishing for catfish, walleye, white bass, etc. Hunting and trapping were the major activities for me in the fall and winter. One of my greatest passions whenever I was about 14 was to decoy ducks into shooting range. I loved to call and shoot my limit of “greenhead” or drake mallards on a cold November morning. As the winters progressed and waterfowl seasons closed, my attention turned towards coyotes and other furbearers. Most of my take came from trapping, but I always had an interest in outsmarting ol wiley coyote.

I started calling coyotes whenever I was 16, but little to no luck. I didn’t put forth much effort and thus did not reap any rewards. As I grew older, my curiosity for outsmarting coyotes became a larger priority. As I pursued a degree in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, I could be found hunting/calling on most every weekend in the fall and winter months. I remember one particular time in which I came home from college on a weekend in which we received about 5-6 inches of fresh snow. Wanting to know more about what makes a coyotes mind tick; I wanted to track coyotes in the fresh snow to see if I could get within shooting range without spooking them. On this particular day, I managed to successfully take 3 coyotes just from tracking them. 2 of them could’ve been shot with a shotgun as they jumped up within 10 yards of me.

I tend to be a goal oriented type of person, and this is the point in my life in which I decided that I set forth my life’s ambition and passion, calling coyotes. I loved to call coyotes, and my brother and I started to compete in competitions. Many, many friendships were made from all across the country, and that is primarily what keeps me competing at this day and age. To date in the competition arena, I have a World Championship, 2 Midwest Championships, and 5 National Coyote Calling Championships to my credit. Numerous 2nd and 3rd place finishes as well. I have accomplished all that I could’ve ever wanted in the competition arena, and my focus and goals have turned more towards my television show, Predator Quest. My show, Predator Quest, won 3 awards my first year of airing. From The Sportsman Channel, Best Show Open and Best Small Game or Turkey Episode, and I won a silver Davey Award in a national competition with my show open.

Currently, I have my own line of Predator Calling Products and many DVD’s on calling predators, with more calls and dvds to come in the future.

Some of my personal best records in predator calling include my Triple Crown Championship. Winning the World, National, and Midwest Coyote Calling Championships in the same season. 4 ½ days of calling competition, 3 different states, 42 coyotes total. My brother Jeff was my partner in two of these competitions, the Midwest and National. Jeff has been a great part of my success and will continue to be a huge asset to my television show. I would not be able to do it without him. I consider him to be one of the best hunters that I have ever had the opportunity of hunting with, so thanks for all that you do my brother!

I am currently 40 years old and thankful for everything that God has graced me with!
